AC Recharge Service Video

The air conditioning system uses refrigerant that circulates under pressure between the compressor, condenser, and evaporator to pull heat out of the cabin air. When the charge level drops, the system loses its ability to transfer that heat, and the vents start blowing warm.

This video walks through where refrigerant travels in a sealed AC loop and what a low charge does to cooling performance. During normal operation, the compressor pressurizes the refrigerant, and the condenser releases heat at the front of the vehicle. The expansion valve then reduces the refrigerant pressure, allowing the evaporator to absorb heat from the cabin.

Warning signs usually show up gradually. Watch for cooling that fades on longer drives, vents that feel cold only at highway speeds, or a compressor clutch that cycles more often than usual. These all point to a low refrigerant charge or a slow leak in the loop.

Around Frederick, MD, summer humidity forces the AC compressor to run harder, accelerating seal wear at the fittings and shaft. Our technicians check refrigerant pressures on both sides of the AC system and inspect connection points for oil residue. We also use UV dye or an electronic leak detector to locate refrigerant leaks.

When testing confirms a recharge is needed, cooling, AC and heating system repair service covers the full process. Drivers around Walkersville and Urbana bring their vehicles to Spectra Auto Services for this work.
